Lips

Our lips are the lower faces counterpart of the eyes and like them are capable of a tremendous array of expression. A thousand emotions can flit over their surface in an instant as clouds across the sky on a windy day. Full, beautifully coloured lips are perhaps the greatest signifier of youth, vitality and sex appeal that we possess and women from Cleopatra to Garbo knew this better than anyone! Semi Permanent Makeup can accentuate the desirable aspects of our lips or surpass nature in the creation of transformative possibilities. Are you ready to start your Semi Permanent make up lips adventure?

The Method

A thorough structural knowledge of the lips and the pigment receptivity of their different parts, allied to exquisite artistic judgement is a must on

the part of the Semi Permanent artist. The examples of Monika’s work exhibit her mastery of these elements to the highest degree in the production of looks from an almost undetectable “natural look” through to the “full lips” high fashion statement. You decide. The white lip or area which surrounds our red lips all the way up to the concealed mucosal portion of the lip is the Semi Permanent artist’s canvas.

Pigment receptivity in the outer portion goes

from approximately 80%-100% and reduces gradually as we approach the edge of the mucosal portion to approximately 20%-50%. Semi Permanent make up is not recommended on the corners of the mouth because of the possibility of pigment leakage due to its spongy structure.

By using darker pigmentation on the white lip and lightening the pigmentation gradually and in a subtle fashion as we work towards the centre of the lip, a three dimensional effect is achieved, much as a painter would use to give depth and reality to objects on a canvas. The other consideration of course is the shape. This is arrived at after a detailed consultation with Monika including design, pencilling in and photos. Monika’s expertise combine with the client’s vision to produce the perfect outcome.

Important To Consider

Over 80% of the population carry the Herpes Simplex type one or “cold sore” virus. Once you have had one cold sore, even in earliest childhood, you will carry the virus for life. For this reason it is critically important that you undergo a prescribed course of anti viral tablets before and after your Semi Permanent lips procedure.

>Monika recommends ZOVIRAX 200mg tablets taken 3 times per day for three days prior to the procedure, on the day of the procedure and for three days afterwards. Without this preventative measure there is the possibility of a cold sore “breakout” which could compromise the result of your Semi Permanent procedure. By following this course of anti viral tablets any such risk is nullified.

Aftercare Instructions

Your skin will be temporarily sensitised after the treatment and you should adhere to the following instructions for the next 10 days. This will help avoid infection and allow time for the skin to recover. If you apply make up during the next 5 days following your treatment, you do so entirely at your own risk. You have been advised how to apply safely by covering and protecting the treated area.

Healing can take up to 10 days and it is perfectly normal for small scabbing to appear on the treated area(s). These should be allowed to fall off naturally over a period of a few days. After the treatment; It is also normal for there to be fading of the colour during the first 2 weeks and patchy sections, as the skin is still healing and the pigment will return to the surface after 2/3 weeks.

If you do not adhere to your aftercare instructions and there is a lack of pigment retention you will be charged for additional treatments at €75 per retouch in the first 36 months of your initial treatment.
